Abstract

Six strains of the Pleurotus genus pertaining to three species were put under
eletrophoretic analysis of total proteins and esterases isoenzymes, in order to characterize species
and varieties from mycelia. The results respectively revealed a noticeable polymorphism in the
protein composition and esterases isoenzymes of the strains in study, being observed 23 and 18
bands. The multivariate analysis of the data confirmed the taxonomic classification of strains,
cradle in morphologic characteristics and tests of interbreeding. The use of the biochemical
markers can constitute a fast and reliable alternative
