Abstract

Three strains of Pisolithus 1/nctorius were grown on six agar media including potato dextrose agar (PDA). modi fied
Melin and Norkrans agar {MNM), lngestad's medium (lNG), Sabouraud's agar (SAB). Hagcm's medium (HG) and
malt extract agar (EMA). Diameter of colonies was measured c:very 48 h during 28 days. Diamder and dry weight
of colonies were measured at the end of the assay. Mean growth rates were calculated as the slopes of d.1ta
adjusted to the linear model. Two strains showed higher mean growth rates and final sizes on PDA. ;md lNG
media, while the other one grew more vigorously on MNM and ING media. The three strains produced higher dry
weight on SAB agar. There is not correlation between values of final diameters and dry weigths of the colortics. i.e.
higher colonial sizes on ING and MNM media correspond with low dry mass production.
