Soils of tw:> pecan orchards infested with Phyma.to:.tJU.chum omn-i..vOJt.wn (Shear)
OJ.ggar were studied in Torre6n, Coahuila. The soil of one of these pecan orchards,
called Tierra Blanca, shows same suppressivity towards this phytopathogenic
fungus , in contrast with the soil of the other pecan orchard, named l-1.anantial.
The nurrber of fungi per gram of dry soil in t.he tw:> orchards was similar; on
the other hand, the record of the nunber of soil fungi in the tw:> orchards was
affected by sane fungistasis in the soil. l-bre than 100 species of fungi were
isolated and identified fran soils of Tierra Blanca and Manantial . The species
of fungi with a greater i.Jll:lortance value index were found in the soil of Tierra
Blanca; such species, which notoriously inhibited Ph. omnA..voltUm , were: AcJtemonA..wn
6Wtc.a.tum F. & V. J.1oreau ex W. Gems , Fu.6Cl1Uwn oxy.tJ poiWm Schlecht, Pe.n-i..cil.t.{_wn
tt.o£.64-U. '!han, and Neo4aM:o.!Ua. 6-i-6che!U Malloch & Cain; of these species, only
F. OXIJ6po1Wm showed a noticeable i.Jll:lortance value index in ?1anantial and behaved
in a similar way in Tierra Blanca.
