Reconsiderations on two former papers for the Identification of Kluyveromyces fragilis and Candida guillermondii in the pozol and Kloeckera apiculata in pulque

This paper rectifies the identity of two yeasts isolated from pozol that were
reponed, in a previous volume of this Journal, as Hansenula pozolis and
Candida parapsilosis var. tuxtlensis which, based on the results of the study
here reponed, correspond to Kluyveromyces fragilis and Candida guilliermondii
(probably var. guilliermondii), respectively. The yeast isolated from pulque,
that was registered as Kloeckera corticis var. pulquensis, really is Kloeckera
apiculata.
Minute differences in the methods and reagents utilized in the carbón fermentation
tests and in the nitrogen and carbón assimilation tests were the cause
of the initial erroneous identification ot the mentioned yeasts.
