Abstract

The species of the genus Elaphomyces are scarcely known in Mexico in spite of its
ecological and traditional importance. In this paper Elaphomyces aculeatus and E. maculatus
are cited for the first time to Mexico and E. muricatus from Michoacan State. The specimens
were colected from pine-oak forests, oak forest and mesophic cloudy forest. The species were
associated with Quercus spp., except E. aculeatus that was collected under Carpinus
caroliniana.
