Records of fungi collected by Sessé and Mociño during the First Royal Botanical Expedition to the New Spain, Mexico

Among the fungi specimens collected between 1793 and 1794 by Sessé and
Lacasta during the first scientific expedition to New Spain, in the Distrito Federal, Michoacán
and Veracruz, they are 17 species registered, of which 10 corresponding to genus Agaricus, 3
to the genus Boletus, one to the genus Clathrus, one to the genus Clavaria, one to the genus
Lycoperdon and one to the genus Peziza. Additionally five species collected and identified by
Sessé and Mociño in 1789, which are deposited at the Herbarium of the Royal Botanical
Garden of Madrid (MA) and come from this expedition are cited: Cookeina sulcipes,
Hirschioporus abietinus, Phellinus salicinus, Poronidulus conchifer and Pycnoporus
sanguineus.
