Abstract

We present data regarding the knowledge held by the inhabitants of Ajusco and Topilcjo. communities near Mexico
City, on wild edible mushrooms. Fifty two species are registered, from which, for the first time in Mexico,
Tricholuma ustal01des is reported as ao edible spe<:ies.
The concept the people of these communities have about mushrooms is discussed, as well as their morpholog)·,
growth, ecology, phenology. and the remedies used by the people against intoxications with these species
