Abstract

A new locality in the State of Puebla for Amanita phalloides was studied. Other specimens
were collected also from different localities in the States of Puebla, Hidalgo and
Veracruz, which facilitated the integral analysis of this species. A. phalloides grows in
the deciduous forest under Quercus crassifolia, Q. candicans, Alnusjorullensis and Clethra mexicana.
It is recognised by the people as "grayish mushroom" but not collected by its
poisonous characteristic. Until now all data concurring its distribution, suggest not
only that is a native rather than an introduced species, but in addition that the Mexican
material corresponds to a new veriety
