Abstract

Morphological variability, hyphal anastomosis reactions, pathogenicity and
susceptibility to fungicides of Rhizoctonia solani isolated from the rhizosphere of ungrafted
Vitis vinifera var. perlette seedless from Sonora, Mexico, were studied. Isolates were obtained
using the wet sieving method and culturing in water-agar 2 % in sterile Petri dishes. One
hundred and twenty two isolates were morphological characterized by having from 3 to 9
nuclei per cell, hyphal diameter from 3 to 8 μm and colony color from off white to dark
brown. Isolates had characteristics of the anastomosis group AG-4 and two vegetative
incompatible groups. The 100 % of evaluated isolates caused roots damage with wounds
longer than 5 mm and they were susceptible to the evaluated concentrations of tolclofosmetil,
tiabendazol and were less sensitive to azoxistrobin. Rhizoctonia solani is a potential risk
to Vitis vinifera var. perlette seedless in vineyards of Sonora, Mexico
