Abstract

The ability of one strain of Pisoli~u s tinctorius from Oaxaca to form
mycorrhizae with Pinus monteZUllae was evaluated. The germination of the plant and
its confrontation with the fungus was performed in Ingestad medium. The obtained
mycorrhizae had simple, dichotomous or coralloid morphol ogy, golden brown color
and abundant mycelial strands. Cross section re7ealed a thick and crowded fungal
sheath, with a large amount of projecting hyphae and a Hartig net surrounding
from two to three outer layers of cortical cells.
