New records of phytopathogenic Ascomycetes in Mexico

Abstract

Four species of Ascomycetes from the States of Chiapas, Nuevo Le6n, and Veracruz
are described : M eliola byrsonimina Stevens & Tehon, Irene ingae Stevens & Tehon
(Meliolales), Sphaerotheca lanestris Harkness (Erisyphales) and Botriosphaera foliorum
(Sacc.) von Arx & Muller (Loculoascomycetes). All of them exceptS. lanestris which is
again described from a new locality in the State of Veracruz, are recorded for the first
time from Mexican mycoflora. Illustrations from all species are presented and their
distribution and ecology discussed
