Abstract

Five species of Rhizopogon, all probably mycorrhizal associates of Pinus spp.,
are described in this paper. Rhizopogon ochraceorubens, R. rubescens, R. subcaerulescens,
R. nigrescens and R. superiorensis var. mexicanus, this latter described
as new taxa, are recorded from central or southern México. The first three
are common in northwestern United States, while R. superiorensis var. superiorensis
has been recorded from northern Michigan and Japan. The distributíon for
R. nigrescens, previously reported from southeastern United States, is extended
to the Bahamas, Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Puerto Rico.
