The genus Xylaria (Pyrenomycetes) in Mexico, I

Se presentan los resultados de un estudio taxonómico con datos íitogeográficos
de 12 especies del género Xylaria en México. Ocho de las especies se
citan por primera vez para México y son: X. aniospleura, X. coccophora, X.
hypoxylon, X. fockei, X. grammica, X. guyanensis, X. paluda y X. polymorpha;
previamente han sido conocidas X. cubensis, X. multiplex, X. telfairii y
X. schweinitzii pero en esta ocasión se precisa su localidad así como su mayor
distribución en el país. El material revisado, alrededor de 115 ejemplares, se
encuentra depositado en herbarios nacionales: ENCB (la mayoría), MEXU
y UNL, y en el extranjero en P. Dicho material procede de los estados de
Colima, Chiapas, Distrito Federal, Guerrero, Tabasco, Veracruz, Hidalgo, Jalisco,
México, Morelos, Nuevo León, Oaxaca, Puebla y Querétaro. Las especies
de este género son lignícolas. X. anisopleura, X. fockei, X. guyanensís y X.
telfairii se distribuyen en zonas tropicales. En zonas tropicales y zonas subtropicales:
X. coccophora, X. cubensis, X. grammica, X. multiplex, X. polymorpha
y X. schweinitzii; la única especie que se presenta tanto en zonas tropicales,
zonas subtropicales y bosques de coniferas a más de 3000 m alt. es X. hypoxylon;
micelio de esta especie se obtuvo en Malta-Agar con el objeto de poder
comprobar algunos caracteres especííicos.
