Observations on the genus Calostoma in Mexico

Abstract

Calostoma cinnabarina, G. lutescens and C. ravendii arc the only species known of the genus in ;'\icxico. Of these, C. mvenclii is first reported lront the Mexican mycoflora. All the species o[ Calostorna growing in the subtropical forest (deciduous and mesophile forests oF severa l authors) ol ;'\lexico, between the 100 and 2000 m of altitude, both in the GniF of Mexico and Pacific slopes. C. cinnabarina is the most abundant species in :\Iexico as occur in U.S.A. The relation of the studied material, with spores and peridium features is presented as well as a key of the known species
